security

Security may be
the promise
to honor a pledge

. . . . . . . .

The OED word of the day for the erasure poem | commentary is 'gage.'

Yep, gage (noun usage 1 of 4): "Something of value deposited to ensure the performance of some action, and liable to forfeiture in case of non-performance; a pawn, pledge, security." From the Old French.

As usual with the OED, "Who knew?"

Thanks, Beth!
