a favor

be ready
to move
towards each other;
to grant a favor
to a Friend
is a Blessing

. . . . . . . .

The OED word of the day for the erasure poem | commentary is
'accede.'

Much fun painting the view from the Chinese Room atop Smith Tower with Peggy today. The gentleman handling the tickets was a real encyclopedia of architectural lore. So I now know I've got a  John Graham, Sr building (Dexter Horton Bank Building, bottom right) and John Jr design (Space Needle) in the same sketch.

blundering

tears
over
you —
blundering
before
retreating

. . . . . . . .

The OED word of the day for the erasure poem is 'nictitation.' If you knew that meant winking or blinking, I'm impressed. I don't think I'd have gotten it right on a multiple choice test.

witness

cherry blossoms
silently witness
the rain

. . . . . . .

The unusable OED word of the day was 'ladykin.' As Ms. Stein (no ladykin her!) would have said,
there was no there there.

virtue

virtue…
The best guarantee is
inexhaustible learning and wit

. . . . . . .

The OED word of the day for the erasure poem is 'mansuetude.'

Saw the documentary "Gerhard Richter Painting" last night, so this painting is a bit of an homage. No "meekness" in Herr Richter!

Stonehenge

a hidden Poem
The standing stones brood in peace—
The phenomenon beyond comprehension

. . . . . . . .

The OED word of the day for the erasure poem is 'letterboxing.'

It made me smile, as I have a sketchbook with a letterboxer's stamp; a group of them were doing their thing in Kubota Garden one day, and politely apologized for wandering in and out of my sketch view as they searched for their cache.

As for the poem, I can't think of an erasure I've done that seems to so specifically describe one place.

The OED word of the day for the erasure poem is 'palaver.'

If you are in the area, don't miss the National Collage Society Invitational Postcard Show at the Bellevue Arts Museum 4/20/12 to 7/15/12. "Urbanity" shown here will be there.

willful and capricious

Reasonable Souls
doubt that spring,
willful and capricious,
is here

in Life
we spend
our whole time
asking questions

 ‘Are you Sure?’

The OED word of the day for the erasure poem is 'germ.'

Impudence

Art
tied to no rules at all
is Impudence,

but sparks of a lustrous spirit
will shine through disguises,
playing in curious fascination

. . . . . . . .

The OED word of the day for the erasure poem is a risky one to be associated with: 'doggerel.'

Vernal Equinox 10.14pm PDT

Life Isn't Still
the Nymphs weep…
finding this allusion to Summer
was a Genuine & miserable Distraction

. . . . . . . .

The OED word of the day for the equinoctial erasure poem is 'german |germane.'

Apologies for my absence. A change in artistic focus from watercolor to collage -- not to mention the winter weather -- made daily sketches impossible to maintain. Still not sure of the direction of this blog, but couldn't let the spring equinox tonight pass unobserved. Thanks for your patience & understanding!
