the starry stream

60...
(in child's Time
some Stone age)

springing from and encircling
A flower in a spiral shell,
what a lovely shell,

With delicate heart,
patterns coil, curl,
against the open mouth of a Monster,
rising up between
successive whorls of the starry stream.

Vast clouds roll in heavy before the wind
drawn to the stars
in patterns too intricate for our eyes

. . . . . . . .

The Seattle UrbanSketchers met in the International District for today's worldwide sketch crawl, where I did this sketch of the pavilion in Hing Hay Park. A pair of elderly men were practicing qi gong to music, which provided a wonderful ambiance.

The OED word of the day for today's erasure poem is 'whorl.'
