unclouded

June -
a walk on An Unclouded Summer evening
is Glorious

. . . . . . . .

The OED word of the day for the erasure poem is 'maillot.' A clear tip of the lads' caps to Le Tour de France that began today. I too can tip my cap, rather cynically, with a different erasure:

The hungry hero
steps forward on 30 June
prepared to survive…
heart thudding…
In a not quite clean Great Race

insubordination

a Sacred insubordination in January

The OED word of the day for the erasure poem | commentary is 'admiral.'

abundant

Elliott Bay, June sunsetlike the warm weather,
sailboats are late-arriving
but now abundant

. . . . . . . .

Again, no erasure poem. Yesterday the OED word of the day was 'nodalize.' Today it is 'midweeker.' As Gertrude Stein said of Oakland, "there is no there there."

All I could get by erasing was its self-description, for it did indeed "Spoil an event i have traditionally considered welcome." Will hope for a more poetic tomorrow...

turn beauty into dialogue

Sunday Sail, Elliott Bay, SeattleWe need
to use imagination
to entertain the Universe

in a sense
To turn beauty into Dialogue

though built on the ancient fear
we have no Authentic purpose;

Which is false

The OED word of the day is 'tache.' Turns out there is a style of painting called tachisme, based on blotches or spots of color. My oh my, the things the Oxford boys teach me.

Today the Seattle Urban Sketchers met at the Elliott Bay Footbridge. Who knew it would be such a great location? Kudos to our organizer Gail Wong. This view of it was done on a copy of a 1912 map of Seattle (click on the image to see a larger view).
